After a 2 month hiatus (o.k., maybe a little more, but whose counting?) ... I'm back to blogging. A lot has happened since November 12th (my last blog). My family and I moved into a new house. Moving is a pain, but the house is a blessing. I went on a 2 week vacation over the Christmas holidays. We spent three days with my family in Houston. We spent four days with Priscilla's family in Dallas. We spent three days on the road. And we spent four days relaxing in McAllen. During that time I read three books and slept a lot. One day I didn't even get out of my pajamas. I love it when I can do that, but it doesn't happen very often.
Now it's time to get back to work ... for all of us. We have so much to do in 2007 that I don't even know where to start. We are going to be focusing on two things this year. We'll take Mark 12:30-31 as our focus text for the year. Jesus was asked for his opinion on which of the Old Testament laws was the most important. "The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.' 31 The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'
This is where we will live this year -- Loving God AND Loving our neighbor. This is how we will say it: WORSHIP (Loving God) AND MISSION (Loving Neighbor). We will spend the entire year learing how to do both and learning how to do them together.
It's going to be a great year!
blessings,
